How to Dilute

Add 30mL of Fabric Rinse Aid to 1 litre of clean water. Follow the supplied directions, avoid over-wetting the fabric and allow the treated area to dry fully.

Suitable fabrics and materials

CouchGuard fabric care products are intended for water-safe upholstery and fabrics, including many fabric couches, man-made suedes, microfibres, linens, rugs and carpets. Materials and dyes vary, so always test on a small hidden area first. Do not continue if the test causes colour transfer, staining or texture changes.

Before you start

• Read the directions for the specific product.
• Test on a hidden area and allow it to dry.
• Use clean white cloths to avoid colour transfer.
• Blot stains rather than rubbing.
• Avoid over-wetting the fabric.
• Protect nearby floors and surfaces from overspray.

How to use Fabric Spotter

1. Blot excess stain deposits with a clean white cloth.
2. Lightly spray Fabric Spotter onto the affected area. Do not over-wet.
3. Lightly agitate and allow it to dwell for five minutes.
4. Add 30ml of CouchGuard Rinse Aid to one litre of clean water.
5. Dampen a clean white cloth in the solution and blot from around the stain towards its centre. Rinse the cloth regularly. Do not rub.
6. Repeat if necessary, then blot away excess moisture with a dry white cloth.
7. Once dry, vacuum away residue. If the stain has been removed, lightly mist the area with Fabric Protector, allow it to dry and repeat.

How to use Rinse Aid

1. Add 30ml of Rinse Aid to one litre of clean water.
2. Dampen a clean white cloth with the solution and blot the spill.
3. Blot excess moisture with a dry white cloth.
4. For stubborn stains, use Fabric Spotter according to its directions.

How to apply Fabric Protector

The surface must be clean, dry and free from dirt, dust, stains and existing coatings. Always test on a hidden area first.

1. Evenly spray one wet coat over the selected area.
2. Immediately repeat using a different spray direction to maximise even coverage. Apply two coats wet-on-wet.
3. Allow the fabric to dry completely before use. Drying generally takes at least one hour, but weather, airflow, humidity and fabric type can extend the time.

Protect nearby flooring from overspray. Use appropriate personal protective equipment during application.

Can I use Fabric Protector on rugs and carpets?

Can I apply it after steam cleaning?

Yes. Let the upholstery become almost dry after steam cleaning, apply the protector as directed, then allow it to dry completely before use.

Does Fabric Protector need to be mixed?

No. CouchGuard Fabric Protector is supplied ready to use.

How long does it take to dry?

Allow at least one hour under suitable conditions. Drying can take longer depending on weather, airflow, humidity, fabric and application.

Is there an odour with your protection?

No. Its none toxic. Our Fabric Protection Spray is water based not solvent based.

Does your protection contain any animal products?

A. No. Definitely not. There is no testing on animals and our products contains no animal product. Its vegan!

Can I use this on rugs & carpet?

Most Definitely! Freshly cleaned or new carpets. Our Fabric Protection can be used on any material / fabric that’s not effected by water. 

Can I put this on my couch after its been steam cleaned?

Definitely. Just let the couch almost dry after the steam clean then apply as per the directions.

What is the mixing ratio?

Our Fabric Protection comes R.T.U. (ready to use). There is no mixing required.

What’s the difference between Scotchgard & Couchguard?

CouchGuard Fabric Protection is waterbased, non toxic and contains no harmful chemicals were as Scotchguard is a solvent so its flammable and contains chemicals now deemed to be unsafe. Scotchguard™ or Scotchgard™ is also a registed trademark and just a well known brand.
