Frequently Asked Questions

What are foam brushes used for in leather repair?
Foam brushes are used to apply leather colour, sealer and conditioner evenly without leaving brush marks. They give a smoother finish than bristle brushes for leather repair work.

Can I use foam brushes to apply leather colour?
Yes — foam brushes are ideal for applying CouchGuard Leather Colour to small repair areas. For larger areas, a mouth atomiser or spray gun gives a more even finish.

How many coats of leather colour do I need?
Typically 2–3 thin coats applied with a foam brush, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next, gives the best coverage and finish.

Are these brushes reusable?
Foam brushes can be rinsed and reused if cleaned immediately after use with water (for water-based products). Having a 10-pack ensures you always have a fresh brush available.

Tips

Run water over the Leather Touch Pen tip then remove and turn around. This will help the paint to flow. Test for adhesion using the tape method. See the “Directions” for more detail. Dirty leather needs cleaning before prepping. Apply Leather conditioner to the hidden areas and crevices once all the recolouring is done and dry. This will stop the panels sticking together.
