Description

Genuine Mulin ML8-226 recliner actuator

The Mulin ML8-226 is a replacement actuator motor for matching electric recliner chairs and sofas. Supplied with a Y-cable wiring harness, it has one five-pin plug and one male OI power lead. Check the exact model, mounting dimensions, frame travel and electrical connections before ordering.

Technical specifications

  • Model: ML8-226.
  • Rated input: DC 28V 1.5A.
  • Stroke length: 295 mm.
  • Minimum installation length: 179 mm, measured pivot-to-pivot when closed.
  • Maximum push force: 800 N. This is an actuator force rating, not a chair occupant-weight rating.
  • Speed: 40 mm/s.
  • Duty cycle: 0.5 minute ON / 4 minutes OFF.
  • Wiring: Y-cable with one five-pin plug and one male OI power lead.

295 mm stroke and restricted frame travel

The specified actuator stroke is 295 mm. Some factory frame setups utilise a restricted 195 mm travel length. These are not interchangeable fit measurements: compare the original actuator and the frame's permitted travel before replacement. Do not assume a 195 mm installation can safely use unrestricted 295 mm travel or remove travel restrictions.

Compatibility checks

  • Match the complete ML8-226 model reference.
  • Compare the 179 mm closed pivot-to-pivot dimension, mounting ends, fixing positions and clearance.
  • Check both the actuator stroke and any frame-specific travel restriction.
  • Match electrical requirements, connector faces, pin layout, polarity and Y-cable routing.

Plug-and-play replacement applies only when the wiring and mechanical installation match. Similar-looking motors and other ML8 models are not automatically compatible. If unsure, send CouchGuard clear photos of the original label, full actuator, plugs and mounting points, together with the original dimensions.

Safe use and replacement

Observe the duty cycle of 0.5 minute running followed by 4 minutes off. Disconnect mains power and any battery supply before replacement. Keep clear of moving mechanisms and use a qualified repairer if the chair cannot be safely supported or the travel restriction is unclear. Do not force plugs, modify wiring or connect the actuator directly to mains power.
