Description
Genuine Mulin ML8-239 recliner motor
Replacing your recliner motor? The Mulin ML8-239 is a genuine slider-block actuator with a 330mm stroke and a three-connection wiring harness. Before ordering, compare the model, fixing points and plugs with your original motor. If you're not sure, send us clear photos and we'll help you check the match.
Electrical specifications
- Model: Mulin ML8-239
- Additional label reference: MOT-AC-65
- Input: DC 28V
- Current: 1.5A
- Duty cycle: maximum 0.5 minute ON, followed by 4 minutes OFF
- Indoor use only
- Connect only to the DC output of a Class II adaptor, as shown on the label
Performance
- Stroke length: 330mm
- Actuator force: 800N
- Speed: 36mm/s
Dimensions and build
- Style: slider-block mechanism actuator
- Overall unit length: 530mm
- Distance between fixings: 510mm
These are three different measurements: 330mm is the stroke, 530mm is the overall unit length and 510mm is the distance between fixings. Compare the same points on your original motor. Don't use the fixing spacing as a retracted or extended mounting length. For pin mounts, measure centre to centre of pin.
The electrical ratings and duty cycle are shown on the motor label. The mechanical specifications above are our listing specifications, not figures printed on that label. The 800N figure is actuator force, not the chair's occupant weight limit.
Wiring and plugs
The motor comes with a female round five-pin connector, a male two-pin OI connection and a female two-pin OI connection. These connect into the matching switch, power and headrest/deputy-motor wiring arrangement. Check every plug and lead against your original setup, including gender, keying, polarity and wiring. The same number of pins does not guarantee the same connection.
Check the match before ordering
Match the complete ML8-239 model, stroke, fixing points, slider arrangement, clearances and electrical connections. A similar-looking motor or the same chair brand isn't enough to confirm fit. Plug-in replacement is suitable only when the mechanical and electrical setup matches.

Fitting your replacement motor
- Check the replacement against your original motor before removing anything.
- Unplug mains power, disconnect any battery and securely support the mechanism before loosening the actuator.
- Photograph the motor orientation, hardware and cable routes. Follow your chair manufacturer's removal and mounting instructions.
- Disconnect plugs by their housings, not the wires. Fit the matched motor without forcing the mounts or using unverified fixings.
- Reconnect the matching leads and keep cables clear of hinges and pinch points.
- Clear hands and tools, restore power and test a short movement. Stop if the mechanism binds, catches or behaves abnormally.
This is general guidance, not a chair-specific service manual. Never work on a powered or unsupported mechanism. If you're unsure about safely supporting or fitting it, use a qualified repairer.
Frequently asked questions
Which model do I need to match?
Match Mulin ML8-239, not just the ML8 series. MOT-AC-65 also appears on the label, but that reference alone doesn't confirm a replacement will fit.
What are the stroke, force and speed?
Our listing specifications are 330mm stroke, 800N actuator force and 36mm/s speed. Compare them with your original motor's requirements.
What style and dimensions does it have?
It's a slider-block actuator with a 530mm overall unit length and 510mm distance between fixings. Check the same fixing points and slider arrangement on your original.
Is 510mm the stroke or overall length?
No. It's the distance between fixings. The stroke is 330mm and overall length is 530mm.
Is 800N the chair's weight capacity?
No. It describes the force of the actuator, not occupant capacity. Use the weight limit specified by your chair manufacturer.
What power does it require?
The label states DC 28V 1.5A. Your power system, polarity and wiring must match.
How long can it run?
Run it for no more than 0.5 minute, then allow 4 minutes OFF. It's not designed for continuous operation.
Which connections come with it?
One female round five-pin, one male two-pin OI and one female two-pin OI connection. Compare all three plugs and their functions with your existing wiring.
Will it fit any Mulin recliner?
No. Check the complete model, stroke, fixings, slider arrangement, travel limits and electrical connections. Send us photos if you're unsure.
My chair won't move. Does that mean the motor has failed?
Not necessarily. The switch, cables, power supply or connections can also cause loss of movement. Check the fault before buying a replacement motor.
