Compatibility

Use this replacement where the original actuator is labelled TA4-2060-002 or identified by La-Z-Boy part number 10.000075.0002, provided the replacement configuration matches. La-Z-Boy and other powered-chair ranges can use different motors, connectors, stroke lengths and mounting points.

Before ordering, compare the original label, connectors, mounting points and dimensions. If you need confirmation, call or email CouchGuard with clear photos of the original label, connectors and complete actuator.

How to remove and replace the actuator

Important: Powered-chair mechanisms are heavy and can move or pinch unexpectedly. If you cannot safely support the chair and moving frame, use a qualified furniture or lift-chair technician.

  1. Disconnect all power. Unplug the chair from the wall and disconnect any battery backup. Do not work on the mechanism while power is connected.
  2. Position and support the chair. Place it where the underside can be reached safely. Support the chair and moving sections securely so they cannot drop, close or shift.
  3. Record the original installation. Photograph the actuator orientation, mounting points, cable routing, connectors, pins, clips, washers and spacers before removing anything.
  4. Disconnect the electrical plugs. Release connector tabs where fitted and pull on the plug housings, not the wires. Do not twist, cut or force the connectors.
  5. Support the actuator. Hold its weight before removing mounting hardware. Remove the retaining clips, clevis pins or bolts one end at a time and keep all reusable hardware in its original order.
  6. Compare old and new parts. Confirm the original TA4-2060-002 configuration matches the TA9-2060-002 replacement, including connectors and mounting points. Do not force a mismatched actuator into place.
  7. Fit the replacement. Install the TA9-2060-002 in the same orientation as the original. Align the mounting holes without using the motor to force alignment, then refit the original pins, clips, washers, spacers or bolts securely.
  8. Reconnect and route cables. Push matching connectors fully home and route cables as originally fitted, clear of linkages, sharp edges and pinch points.
  9. Check the mechanism by hand. Remove tools and confirm that hardware is secure and nothing obstructs the chair mechanism.
  10. Restore power and test carefully. Keep people and objects clear. Test briefly in both directions while watching the actuator, mounts and wiring. Stop immediately if the chair binds, makes unusual noises or moves incorrectly.

Do not operate the actuator for more than 2 minutes continuously. Allow at least 18 minutes off before further operation, in line with its rated duty cycle.
